ShnUpdate - Savyon 28.12.17

Orit came to visit us this week, every time we see Orit or Raviv we feel uplifted seeing them as they bring their charm and tasty tasty snacks. Particularly, Orit brought krembos, a delightful Israeli treat not too disimaller too an m&s marshmallow tea cake. Just as important as tasty tasty snacks is the session we had with her on our Yom chinuch, which was an inspiring feminism mamad(service).

Matt showed us around his allotment.

Christmas was a treat because of Talia's( also Gideon and Jack) amazingly well planned session which included festive charades and hot choco.

We have also started Hebrew lessons which have been highly engaging and have been helping us to connect with the lotan community, especially the shin shins ( Israeli gap year participants).

Sam had his birthday on Friday, he felt thankful getting cards from kibbutz groups and lots of tasty birthday cake. He also enjoyed various different celebration's with the green apprenticeship, the shins and our very own shnatties.

A few days this week Harley got to go up and work on the afron(date picker). He enjoyed the variety in the work.

Alyssa has had a busy but gratifying week at the tea house. She enjoys interacting with her co-workers and any tourists that come round, as she can practice her Hebrew.

Emily, Joe and Sima have made great progress in their date field, although the work has been repetitive, when they come back from work they all take satisfaction at a job well done.

Your correspondents had an excellent time at the dairy, we were afforded the opportunity to specialise our role, which include maintenance and calf care and we also performed a variety of different tasks.

This week was our first opportunity cooking for the whole kibbutz, that night's cuisine was Mexican food, and we received a warm and receptive welcome from the diners who were there, especially the two tourists who came back for thirds!

Dancing was had this week by most and what was especially fun was the "just dance" session ran by the shin shins.

We are all enjoying our time here, and are looking forward to our next portion of the program in Tel Aviv where we have chosen(finally!) the organisations we are going to work at.
